RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Innovative Design
Staying at the forefront of the industry means constantly researching international trends, new technology and materials. Our products are developed with passion and unwavering precision. At the heart of our company is our technical team, qualified, highly skilled and dedicated professionals that include designers, draughtsman and programmers.
Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we work closely with our customers to ensure a product design that is tailored to their unique needs. Once all is approved, our product team ensures that each item meets the specific requirements.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Quality Production & Craftsmanship
Our factory combines cutting-edge Italian woodworking technology with the expertise of master cabinetmakers. Supported by a dedicated team of more than 95 skilled employees, we have the capability to efficiently manufacture both bespoke and high-volume furniture solutions.
Using up to 700m² of board per day, we can produce up to 200 units daily across selected product ranges. This scale of craftsmanship and capacity is a true testament to our world-class technology and innovative practices.
Our Materials
Quality starts with superior raw materials. Our furniture is manufactured using a combination of premium local and imported boards, selected to guarantee superior quality and the most realistic finishes possible.
These boards carry an E1 rating, meeting stringent European standards for indoor air quality and occupational health.

Every Cecil Nurse product reflects our dedication to thoughtful design, quality materials, and superior craftsmanship. Our comprehensive office furniture collection includes desking, seating, storage solutions, screen partitioning, boardroom furniture, collaborative spaces, and occasional furniture. All designed to support productive, modern workplaces.
In addition, we offer a carefully curated range of residential and hospitality furniture, including bedroom, dining room, lounge, hotel, and restaurant solutions available in a variety of finishes to complement any interior style.
Screens, Acoustic Solutions and Modular Soft Furniture
Cecil Nurse Manufacturing has been producing high-quality boundary and desk-based screens for many years, with aluminium-framed screens forming the foundation of its product offering.
As innovative materials such as polyester became available, the factory invested significantly in advanced, high-precision manufacturing technology to process these materials into a wide range of screens, acoustic partitions and workspace solutions. These modern materials and manufacturing processes have enabled the production of lighter, more cost-effective products that also support sustainability through their recyclability.
The adoption of precision-cutting technology and versatile new materials has further expanded the factory’s capabilities beyond traditional screening products. Today, Cecil Nurse Manufacturing designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of privacy cubicles, meeting pods, acoustic booths and modular soft seating solutions, delivering flexible, functional and contemporary products for modern workspaces.
At Cecil Nurse, we donate our fabric offcuts and PET material waste to TCB rather than sending them to landfill. These materials are then repurposed by independent makers into practical, high-quality products such as tote bags, cosmetic bags, aprons, and other handcrafted items.
Guided by the principles of Resell, Repair, and Remake, this initiative helps reduce waste, extends the lifespan of valuable materials, reduces demand for virgin resources, and creates income-generating opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Building a More Sustainable Future
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. Through responsible resource management, renewable energy investment, waste reduction initiatives, and partnerships that create social impact, Cecil Nurse is committed to making a positive difference both within our industry and in the communities we serve.
Together, we are creating furniture with purpose, while building a more sustainable future for South Africa.
Reducing Water Consumption Through Well Points
In Autumn 2026, we commissioned two well points at our manufacturing facility to significantly reduce our reliance on municipal water supplies, one supplying factory ablutions, the other supporting garden irrigation.
Since connecting our factory toilets to the well point system, municipal water consumption has decreased by approximately 50%. As the second well point becomes fully operational, we anticipate overall water savings of 65–70% during the summer months.
Powering Our Factory With Renewable Energy
Our solar installation comprises 272 high-efficiency panels, each rated at 545W, enabling us to generate approximately 145MWh of electricity annually — currently supplying around 42% of our factory’s total energy requirements.
Our existing inverter infrastructure has additional capacity, allowing us to expand the installation in future without major upgrades — positioning us to keep building a cleaner, more resilient manufacturing operation.
Sustainability & Community Impact
At Cecil Nurse, sustainability is more than a commitment, it’s a responsibility. We continually invest in initiatives that reduce waste, conserve resources, and create meaningful opportunities within our communities.
Our Partnership With TCB
We believe that manufacturing can create value long after a product leaves our factory floor. That’s why we proudly partner with Taking Care of Business (TCB), a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and helping families escape poverty through sustainable economic opportunities.
TCB provides entrepreneurs, seamstresses, repair workers, and informal traders with access to materials, training, and resources that enable them to build and grow their businesses. Through its circular economy programmes, TCB transforms items that might otherwise be discarded into products with a new purpose.
